This is a breakdown of my color grading process for the documentary Butch: Legend of Langston. This was a wonderful film and story to grade. The approach was to make the film just as vibrant and magical as Butch is. The film was shot on Blackmagic Ursa 4.6K. The film was graded in DaVinci Resolve.
Easily the most recognizable character of Langston University for over 50 years, Butch is loved by all and known by none. Set in the nation’s westernmost HBCU (historically black college or university), Butch: Legend of Langston explores the many myths, stories, and legends of a man who has lived on campus since 1963.
